Dr. Joseph Zabell, MD

We are so proud of Dr. Daddy! Joe graduated this past weekend and we had lots of family here to celebrate. After packing all day Saturday we went out to dinner to celebrate since the ceremony was so late on Friday night. We even had Bryan and Jessie come for dinner at Three Samurai. It was great to see so much family and enjoy Joe's great accomplishment. Here are the pics:

AOA Reception

This past week we had Joe's Alpha Omega Alpha (Honor Society) reception. We brought Hannah along because we didn't have a babysitter and she did really well. She sat nicely and stole many hearts. She immediately picked out the future pediatricians and was giggling and pointing at them, it was pretty cute! The reception was held at the new press box at Kinnick Stadium. Dinner was great and it was a nice way to end Joe's career as a med student. Graduation from med school is on May 14th (even though Joe is already done with rotations) so we are very excited for that. Joe will be playing daddy daycare for the next month and a half so there should be some fun stories!

Almost 10 months old!

Hannah is mobile as ever and is such a joy! We have been working with her to sleep through the night and have had one night of success, but we had a small interruption with another ear infection...bummer. Most nights she is just waking up once to nurse, so I can live with that.

We are getting excited to move back to Minnesota and we will be closing on our new house at the end of May! We are starting some of our 'lasts' and one of them was our 'last' trip to Des Moines. We like to go there on occasion for some good food and a trip to the big mall. We went yesterday and today we are relaxing and working on cleaning the house. Here are a couple pictures from the weekend.

9 months old already!

Hannah is a very curious 9 month old that is into everything. She is starting to display a little stranger anxiety, but gets over it pretty quickly. She gets pretty freaked at restaurants and often times we can't get her to focus to eat her food. I'm sure we'll get there with time.

We have had a month of bad health between Hannah having two ear infections, with pneumonia in between. We just recently had the stomach flu go through the house and Grandma and Grandpa Clapper's house as well.

Joe and I have been house hunting three different weekends and we finally think we have one that's a winner. We will be putting in an offer soon and hope things go well. We are excited to move back to MN and excited for Joe to finally have a job.

Back to Hannah...she is now pulling herself up on everything and enjoys being adventurous and will bravely take one hand off a table and hold herself up. She loves to smile and babble. Crawls like a champ and loves to wiggle around. Hannah is doing very well at daycare and continues to try new flavors of food. She recently went on a picky spell where she won't eat anything green, hmmm. She also got her first tooth on February 26th, bottom left. We enjoy each day with her and she is such a blessing to us! 8 months old!

Hannah has been a joy in our life and we continue to love her more and more each day. She is so much fun and full of energy right now. She can't even sit still long enough for us to get a diaper on her after bath time. Joe continues to condition her for the WNBA as she is still super tall and she is now just shy of 16 pounds 12 oz. the other day when I weighed her. She is crawling all around and eating new things each day. She is even starting to pull herself up on things in attempts to stand. One of my favorite things is picking her up at daycare. She spots me and then squeals a little and proceeds to crawl right up to my feet and put her arms up. It is so great. She is in the second room, Crawler City, and enjoying it. They made little hearts with their hand prints on them the other day for Valentine's Day. Joe thinks that Hannah is looking more and more like him each day. I still think she looks a lot like me regardless.

In other news, Hannah and I are very proud of daddy for matching for his Urology Residency at the University of Minnesota. The grandparents are especially excited about Hannah coming home, I don't know if they realize Joe and I are coming back as well. This means that I am looking for a new job and we have already started the house hunt. We'll keep you posted on our progress, but for now we're excited to come home!

Happy 8 month Birthday Hannah! We love you!
