Learning new things each day

Hannah and I are at the Clapper cabin this week while Joe is on his anesthesia rotation back in Iowa. The weather has been a little chilly, but we have been enjoying some time with Hannah's Great-Grandparents and Grandparents on the Clapper side. Hannah has started to put weight on her legs and smile lots more. Her Grandma Clapper got a toy bridge and she has played with it a few times. She is sure a talker and loves to wiggle and look around. Constant motion with her. She gave me some false hope by sleeping through the night three nights in a row, but last night she was up at 3am again. I guess we'll have to wait a little while for her to really sleep through the night. Here is a little video I took of Hannah under her toy bridge talking and wiggling around.

Baptismal Weekend

Series of Events from last weekend:

We made it to Minneapolis about 12:15 friday night to start a weekend of celebration for Hannah's Baptism. Saturday morning we slept in a little and so did Hannah! We stopped Friday night at the Git 'n Go in Charles City about 9:30 to start her bedtime routine of vitamin drops, pj's, and nursing. She fell asleep by about 10pm and slept until 5:57am! I haven't slept that well in 8 weeks! She has been sharing in many snuggles from family members and we are sharing some time at the Zabell's and Clapper's seeing lots of family. Here is a picture of all the living Zabells:

After spending time at the Zabell's on Saturday morning and lunch, we went back to the Clapper household to see my grandparents who came in from Billings for the Baptism. We had some hors d'oeuvres and spent time with the Clappers, here are some pictures:

Great-Grandma ClapperHannah's Baptism was at the early service at Incarnation Lutheran on Sunday at 8:45 am. Pastor Markquart, who married Joe and I just over 2 years ago, baptized Hannah. We feel so honored to have Emily Trapp and Brian Park as her baptismal sponsors. They are both very important to Joe and me and we look forward to their involvement in Hannah's life as well. My parents hosted a brunch afterwards and we felt so fortunate to have close friends and family there. Thank you to everyone who came from near and far to be at Hannah's baptism, we feel so fortunate to have you in our lives.

Meeting Colorado Zabells

Hannah got to meet her Great Aunt Jean, Great-Grandma Dorothy, and good friend of theirs Mary Ann today on their way from Colorado to the Cities. We had lunch and relaxed at our duplex in North Liberty with lots of passing around of baby Hannah. Here are some pictures from our day:

Johnson Family reunion

Hannah and I went up to the lake last week on Thursday for sometime with my mom's sisters and their families while Joe stayed to work and study. We also had a Johnson side family reunion with all my mom's first cousins. We had a great time relaxing at the cabin and catching up with everyone. A few milestones for Hannah are that she is smiling more, her eyes are tracking with people a lot, and she went on her first boat ride! We have noticed that Hannah has a need for speed and does really well on car trips as long as we go at least 60 miles an hour and she did really well in the boat as long as we were going fast. Here are some pictures from the long weekend with the Johnson side.

Happy 4th of July!

We had a pretty low key, but fun, 4th of July this year. Grandma and Grandpa Zabell came down and spent the weekend with us. It was rainy on the fourth, so we hung out inside most of the day, but it did clear up enough to grill dinner and go to fireworks. Hannah experienced her first fireworks (although she slept through all of it) at Morrison park in Coralville. We had festive waffles this morning with berries which were very nummy. Hannah is starting to smile more, we are starting to believe they are intentional and it makes us go crazy everytime, I captured one below but will try for better ones in the near future.

We've got a growing girl!

Hannah had her 1 month check-up today and she is definitely a growing girl! She is now up to 9 lbs 9 1/2 ounces (60th percentile) and is 23 inches long (95th percentile). We're so proud of her and we are excited to continue to watch her grow!

1 month old!

Yesterday I took a couple shots of our 1 month old! I can't believe it's already been a month! We have Hannah's 1 month check up tomorrow and I can't wait to see how much she weighs!

Happy Birthday Grandma Zabell and meeting new cousins

Sunday was Carole's birthday, so we stopped for brunch to celebrate and break up our drive on our way back to Iowa. Karine (Joe's cousin), Tom, and Zeke, who live in Honduras, were also able to join us. It was so fun to meet Zeke and spend time with them.
