Christmas

We had a great Christmas this year...except for Joe was on home-call, which turned into pages interrupting any family dinner and present opening. We made it through and had a great New Years weekend when he was not on call, which was nice. Hannah got spoiled by her grandparents, aunt and uncles (and us maybe a little too). She had a great time and here are some pictures from the holidays.

Happy Halloween! and pumpkin carving

Hannah got to choose between a princess and a doctor (because those are the costumes we had) for Halloween and she chose to be a princess! I put her hair up and she wore her crown for a couple minutes. We pulled her in her wagon like a true princess. Hannah had a blast and kept saying, "I wanna go another house." She did a good job of saying, trick or treatin' and Happy Halloween to each house we stopped at. It was very special for her to go trick or treating with her daddy as this was the first year he has actually seen her on Halloween. We had a blast and even went to Joe's old neighborhood to trick or treat for a while with Grandma and Grandpa Zabell. We ended the night stopping by to see the Clapper grandparents and then she was wiped!

Adventures of seeing Santa

Joe and I brought Hannah to see Santa yesterday at the Rosedale mall. We waited in line for over an hour. When we were just about to see him Hannah decided it would be fun to spin in circles, which she does frequently. This time however, she must have overdone it a little because she stopped and threw up a little bit on her dress. Nothing too big, just enough to make her breath smell awful and make a dribble on her dress...quick blanket and apple juice to the rescue! Joe quickly used the blanket in the bag (first thing I could find) and I quickly opened the apple juice to make her breath smell better. Whew. We couldn't really get her to smile, but it was cute anyways. She even tried her candy cane afterward and did great (besides being super sticky!)!

Happy Halloween!

This year we had to go trick or treating without daddy again. I guess we have to just get used to the fact that holidays may be without daddy for the next 5 years during his residency. We enjoyed ourselves and did have some time with daddy before he had to work at 3 which was great. Hannah was a monkey (well really she is a monkey with the way she climbs and eats bananas, which is how I decided what she should dress up as). We carved a pumpkin, ate jack-o-lantern pizza and went to half a dozen houses for trick or treating. It was lots of fun and here are a few pics from our day!

Happy 4th of July!

We had a pretty low key, but fun, 4th of July this year. Grandma and Grandpa Zabell came down and spent the weekend with us. It was rainy on the fourth, so we hung out inside most of the day, but it did clear up enough to grill dinner and go to fireworks. Hannah experienced her first fireworks (although she slept through all of it) at Morrison park in Coralville. We had festive waffles this morning with berries which were very nummy. Hannah is starting to smile more, we are starting to believe they are intentional and it makes us go crazy everytime, I captured one below but will try for better ones in the near future.

Easter

Easter was a lot of fun with both sets of soon to be grandparents and Bob. We had an Easter egg hunt, which Bob won of course. As you can see in the picture below, Joe pushed me over to get an Easter egg that I found, so I was trying to steal his eggs. The Easter bunny not only hid eggs, but we got some fun presents, mostly fun things for the baby like a travel system, books, and a MN Twins outfit. Here are some pictures:
